Financial Management: Theory & Practice (with Thomson ONE - Business School Edition 1-Year Printed Access Card) (Hardcover)
I have experience with accounting, but haven't really done much since 6 years with it. So this book really helped me get back my basics. The Finance class that I took in the summer was a real breeze after this (many thanks to Professor Haddad too, ofcourse). And everyone knows how fast stuff is completed in the Summer! I definitely recommend buying this book. For people with prior experience in Finance, you could even buy something more advanced to go along with it.
And thank you Amazon, for the immediate shipment. I had a test the very next week of starting. I hadn't bought the text book, till it was prescribed in the first class. So I opted for the one-day shipping. The book was well wrapped and in excellent condition. It was totally worth it.
Overall, you guys deserve all 5 stars!

Cowboy Ethics

Having been rocked by one damaging revelation of misbehavior after another, Wall Street is in a state of crisis. Investors are disgusted by the misdeeds of a few and suspicious of the industry at large. Every firm finds its integrity open to question. Regulators are up in arms. And the industry is facing billions of dollars in costs to comply with a floodtide of new regulations.
But imagine what could happen if Wall Street firms looked back to a simpler time when a handshake was enough to seal a deal, and right and wrong were as clear as black and white. What if executives, portfolio managers, analysts, and traders decided that some things aren’t for sale? What if every major investment firm agreed to live by the principle that the client always comes first?
In words and images, Cowboy Ethics explores the life and code of the working cowboy as a source of inspiration pointing the industry to a way out of its troubles.
The book is intended as the catalyst for a movement to transform the industry – not with the carrot and stick, but from the inside out – one person, firm, and organization at a time.

Meggs\' History of Graphic Design (Hardcover)
In my opinion, this 3rd Edition \"A History of GD\" is the best reference book written about graphic design. This 500 plus pages book/bible is simply divided into 5 sections, 1) The Prologue to Graphic Design, 2) A Graphic Rennaissance, 3) The Industrial Revolution, 4)The Modernist Era, and 5) The Age of Information. The topics range from the invention of writing to, creation of new typogrphic styles to, the digital revolution and computer art. There are plenty of graphics and photos on every page to accompany the wonderfully written text. If you study art history or graphic design, I think this would be a great reference book to have. It will take some time to read the entire book. But this is like a text book, so, reading only part of the chapters would be quite informative as well. Once you are done, you will definitely appreciate graphic design/graphic designers.Art History, Vol. 1, 3rd Edition (Paperback)

Seven Days in the Art World (Hardcover)
From Publishers WeeklyStarred Review. The hot, hip contemporary art world, argues sociologist Thornton, is a cluster of intermingling subcultures unified by the belief, whether genuine or feigned, that nothing is more important than the art itself. It is a conviction, she asserts, that has transformed contemporary art into a kind of alternative religion for atheists. Thornton, a contributor to Artforum.com and the New Yorker, presents an astute and often entertaining ethnography of this status-driven world. Each of the seven chapters is a keenly observed profile of that world\'s highest echelons: a Christie\'s auction, a crit session at the California Institute of the Arts and the Art Basel art fair. The chapter on auctions (where one auction-goer explains, [I]t\'s dangerous to wear Prada.... You might get caught in the same outfit as three members of Christie\'s staff) is one of the book\'s strongest; the author\'s conversations about the role of the art critic with Artforum editor-in-chief Tim Griffin and the New Yorker\'s Peter Schjeldahl are edifying. Thornton offers an elegant, evocative, sardonic view into some of the art world\'s most prestigious institutions. 8 illus. (Nov.)
